Was Pakistan cricketer Naseem Shah kidnapped? Know the truth

Naseem Shah faces trouble after a controversial social media post.
Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has landed in a major controversy at the start of PSL 2026. The issue started after he posted a statement from his X (formerly known as Twitter) account. The post seemed to criticise Maryam Nawaz, who attended the opening match of the Pakistan Super League in Lahore.
Maryam Nawaz is the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. She was invited as the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Soon after the post went viral, it was deleted. The incident also led to action from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The Pakistan Cricket Board took the matter seriously. The board issued a show-cause notice to Naseem Shah. He was asked to explain his side of the story. The PCB also stated that the pacer has violated his central contract. He may also have violated the media rules that were set by the board.
PCB issues show-cause notice to Naseem Shah

The controversial post reportedly stated, “Why is she treated like the Queen at Lord’s?” This was seen as a sarcastic remark aimed at Maryam Nawaz. The post was quickly deleted. Later, another post appeared from Naseem’s account. It claimed that his account had been hacked.
Notably, the PCB did not take the issue lightly. Reports suggested that a clause in the code of conduct prohibits players from publicly commenting on officials or persons associated with them. The board will decide the punishment only after hearing Naseem’s response.
However, amidst the controversy, another shocking report has surfaced. A local report from Islamabad Post has claimed that an unknown man abducted Naseem Shah. However, there is no official confirmation yet from his family or the PCB.
This is not the first such case of violation. Earlier, all-rounder Aamer Jamal was fined for showing support for former captain Imran Khan during a practice session. The PCB recently tightened rules on players’ political expression.
For now, Naseem Shah’s well-being remains unclear, and fans are waiting for an update from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Why did PCB send a notice to Naseem Shah?
Because of a social media post that seemed to criticise Maryam Nawaz.
