Wasim Akram hopeful of Pakistan's good show in the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023

Pakistan will be playing India at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on 15th October.
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram looks confident about the Pakistan Cricket team's chances in the upcoming World Cup 2023 in India. Akram believes that the Pakistan side has got enough quality in their ranks to be major contenders in the World Cup 2023 event. Pakistan are currently the second-ranked ODI side in the ICC Men’s ODI team rankings, and their captain Babar Azam is currently the leading batter in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings for batters. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram feels that Pakistan have got a great side along with modern great in batting Babar Azam. Wasim Akram was part of the 1992 World Cup winning squad and played a crucial role in the team's victory.

Pakistan will be opening their campaign against Qualifier 1 (World Cup qualifiers winner) at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on 6th October. Talking about Pakistan's chances, Wasim Akram said, “We have a good side… a very good one-day side and are led by one of the modern-day greats in Babar Azam… As long as they are fit and as long as they play according to the plan, they will have a chance of doing well in that World Cup because it is played in our type of conditions in India on the Sub-continent”. Pakistan will play India at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on 15th October.
Pakistan failed to qualify for the Semifinal in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England by a thin margin as their net run rate was on the lower side. Pakistan won 5 games out of 9 they played in the previous edition. Pakistan did well in the T20I format as they came close to winning the championship in the 2022 World T20 tournament. Pakistan did a great performance in the previous two editions of the T20 World Cup and were invincible in both tournaments.
