Wasim Jaffer feels Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav would be great additions to the side for the Australia tour.
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has made his prediction on the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia.
The high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kick off on November 22 at the Perth Stadium. For the first time since 1991-92, Australia and India will play test series, which will consist of five matches.
The second test will be a day-night match, which will be played in Adelaide from December 6. The third match of the series will be played in Brisbane from December 14.
The fourth test will get underway on December 26 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and the final match of the series will be hosted in Sydney from January 3, 2025.
India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick: Wasim Jaffer
The Indian cricket team had great success on Australian soil on their last two tours in 2018-19 and 2020-21 as they clinched twin consecutive test series. India will look to win their third test series in a row in Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Former Indian opener Jaffer believes that the fitness and availability of fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj would be a key factor in the result of the series.
Jaffer further added that if selected, Arshdeep Singh with his left-arm angle and Mayank Yadav with his extra pacer could be X-factors in Australian conditions.
Responding to one of the queries on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Jaffer said, “If Bumrah, Shami and Siraj stay fit and are able to play most of the series, India have a great opportunity for a hat-trick down under. Arshdeep could bring the left arm option. And Mayank Yadav dark horse provided he’s fit and available.”
