This has been a season of redemption for Ajinkya Rahane in the IPL 2023. Ajinkya Rahane has batted with an almost 200-strike rate this season. He has surprised everyone with his intent for Chennai Super Kings. Once again, he played a quickfire knock. Rahane smashed 71 runs in 29 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Rahane has earned praise for his approach as well as for his improvisation in shot selections. Against KKR, he played a ramp shot in the final overs of the inning. Everyone was stunned by this uncharacteristic shot from him.

In the 18th over, Rahane ramped one of Kulwnt Khejroliya’s low full toss over the short third man for a magnificent boundary. It was a premeditated attempt from the right-hander. Commentators were in shock by Rahane’s version 2.0. Former Indian Coach and known for his choice of words, Ravi Shastri on air said, “How good is that? It goes straight into the Kolkata Knight Riders dugout”. Former English batter Kevin Pietersen tweeted, “Jinx Rahane has just played one of the greatest shots I have ever seen, Keep entertaining brother”.

While Simon Doull was in awe of that shot and he said, “I am not sure how he did that”. Rahane’s intent has brought life to his career which was in a slump for the last few years. Rahane has been batting with a free mindset in the IPL 2023. He along with Shivam Dube added 85 runs in 32 balls. His innings paved the way for CSK to score 235 runs and put KKR on the back foot even before they came out to chase Eden Gardens.

Ajinkya Rahane in 5 games this season has scored 209 runs with two fifties at a strike-rate of 199.04. He has smashed 11 sixes and 18 fours this season. Rahane has provided CSK with a stable Number 3 option in the batting. CSK’s top order has been in top-class form.
