[Watch] Ali Khan dismantles Rishabh Pant's middle stump in USA vs IND ICC T20 World Cup 2024 clash

Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 18 runs by Ali Khan in the IND vs USA match at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant‘s middle stump was knocked by USA speedster Ali Khan during the IND vs USA encounter at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday in New York.

The surface at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium once again proved to be extremely challenging for the batters as pacers found help in terms of seam movement and the ball holding in the pitch.

Both teams headed into this fixture with four points in two games each and the winner will seal their spot in the Super 8 round.

India restricted the USA to 110, courtesy of Arshdeep Singh’s sensational bowling figures of 4/9. However, the Indian batters were also made to sweat right from the start of their chase as the India-born left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck and Rohit Sharma for three runs to leave India reeling at 10/2.

Pant and Suryakumar Yadav formed a partnership of 29 (32), which was broken by a searing delivery from Khan.

Ali Khan breaches Rishabh Pant’s defence with a thunderous ball

Khan attacked Pant from around the wicket angle and succeeded in breaching the left-hander’s defence with a ball that was angled into him and it stayed low after pitching. The southpaw could consider himself a bit unlucky here as the ball stayed much lower than expected after landing on the pitch. It snuck under Pant’s defensive push and rattled into the stumps.

Pant scored 18 runs in 20 balls with the help of a six and a four. India will need Suryakumar Yadav, who has gotten going with a pick-up shot sixer, to make the chase comfortable. A win here for the Men In Blue will take them to Super 8.
