DC vs CSK: Watch - Ambati Rayudu takes a flying catch to send back Prithvi Shaw
Ambati Rayudu took a dive at mid-off to take a stunning catch to send back DC opener Prithvi Shaw.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran Ambati Rayudu turned superman as he dived full length to take a stunning catch of Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw in their ongoing IPL 2023 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 20, 2023.
With seven victories in 13 games, CSK is second in the standings behind the Gujarat Titans, who will compete in Qualifier 1. However, CSK must win this one to guarantee postseason qualifying after losing their prior home game to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
They got off to a good start when MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first in the stifling Delhi heat.
CSK innings was the story of the massive 141-run opening partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Ruturaj was the aggressor and scored 79 in 50 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes, while Conway almost batted through scoring 87 with 3 sixes and 11 fours.
CSK finished with a huge 223/3 with Shivam Dube making 22 in 9 and Ravindra Jadeja smacking 20* in 7 at the end of 20 overs.
Prithvi Shaw falls for 5 runs courtesy an excellent catch by Ambati Rayudu
Delhi Capitals suffered the first blow as they lost Prithvi Shaw early. Shaw was dismissed by his Mumbai teammate Tushar Deshpande in the second over of the DC innings.
Shaw hit a four in his 7-ball stay which came to an end on the third ball of the second over. Deshpande bowled a full delivery outside off-stump, which held onto the surface. This messed up Shaw’s timing as he tried to drive the ball down the ground.
However, he manages to hit it in the air, where Rayudu stationed at mid-off moves swiftly to his right and dives to get the ball one-handed. Shaw looked stunned as the 39-year-old celebrated in style.
