In the ongoing U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy, Andhra Pradesh batter Vamshhi Krrishna etched his name into the records book by smashing six sixes in an over. He achieved this iconic feat during the match against Railways at the Elite Group D league match at the ACA-YSRR stadium, Kadapa on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, Andhra side ended first dayβs play at 372/7. However, the main highlight of the match between Andhra and Railways was when the opener Vamshhi Krrishna smashed Railways leg-spinner Damandeep Singh for six sixes in an over en route to his quickfire 110-run knock in Kadapa.
The 22-year-old Vamshhi Krrishna from Guntur district hit 6 consecutive sixes in the 10th over bowled by Railways leg-spinner Damandeep Singh. The Andhra Pradesh opener completed his century in just 48 balls.
During his outstanding knock of 110 runs, Vamshhi Krrishna smashed 96 runs in boundaries. In reply to 378 runs, Railway declared their first innings at a mammoth 865/9. Including Vamshhi Krrishna, so far only four Indian cricketers have hit six sixes in an over in different forms of the game. In a Ranji Trophy match between Bombay (now Mumbai) and Baroda in 1985, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri became first ever Indian cricketer to hammer six sixes in an over. His 6 sixes came against left-arm spinner Tilak Raj.
Former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was the second Indian to smash six sixes in an over. During the T20 World Cup in 2007, the left-handed batter smashed former English pacer Stuart Broad for six sixes in a league stage match. Yuvraj is also the only Indian cricketer to do so in international cricket.
In the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final match, Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad became third Indian batsman to hit 6 sixes in an over when he smacked seven sixes in the 49th over against Uttar Pradeshβs left-arm spinner Shiva Singh. Gaikwad scored 43 runs off the over.
