Watch: Arshdeep Singh picks up his maiden wicket in County Championship

Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets in his first county inning for Kent.

Away from international cricket, India’s T20 superstar Arshdeep Singh is showing his skills in County Cricket. Arshdeep Singh has joined Kent County Cricket Club and made his county championship debut against Surrey. Arshdeep has joined Kent County for the 5 county championship games before flying to West Indies for ODIs and T20 series. Arshdeep had a tremendous start in England as he picked up 2 wickets in the debut clash against Surrey in the first inning. English wicketkeeper Ben Foakes became his first county wicket. Known for his white-ball games, Arshdeeo troubled batters with his accuracy and movement of the wicket and got important wickets for Kent. 

Arshdeep Singh's Kent debut

Arshdeep Singh bowled a fuller-length ball which nipped back into Foakes who was found trapped in front of the stump and given out LBW after his 7-minute long stay at the crease. Arshdeep then went on castle Daniel Worrell as the last Surrey wicket to bundle them out on just 145 runs. Kent in the first inning went on to score 301 runs with the help of wicketkeeper Jordon Cox's century. Cox scored 133 runs for Kent. Kent are in complete control of them as they have extended their lead to 353 runs at the end of day 2. 

Before making his debut for Kent, Arshdeep said, “Feeling excited to be here, to be part of such a great county with a rich history as I have been told by people back home. It feels like home, It is just colder than home”. This is Arshdeep’s first-ever season in County cricket. Arshdeep has played 26 T20s and only 3 ODIs for India. He has become an integral part of India’s T20 squad after his superb bowling performances on many occasions. Arshdeep Singh’s red-ball experience is very less as he has played only 7 first-class games in his 5-6 years of competitive cricket.
