GT vs DC: Watch - Ishant Sharma castles Vijay Shankar with a knuckle-ball

Ishant Sharma brought his experience into play to dismiss Vijay Shankar

The veteran, Ishant Sharma has made an instant impact for Delhi Capitals right from the word go. Having played four matches in IPL 2023, Ishant has plucked six wickets already at an economy of 6.50 which is the joint-best by any Delhi Capitals bowler this season.

Bowling his second over of the innings, Ishant came to bowl the 5th over of GT's innings. Ishant was struck for a boundary by Vijay on the third ball of the over but it was Ishant's shrewd operations that got him his revenge. Ishant bowled a peach of a knuckleball in the line of the stumps and Vijay Shankar found himself clueless. Vijay was left in disbelief after the ball went on to shatter the stumps as Ishant's knuckleball worked for the Capitals.

It was an important wicket from DC's point of view since they were defending a low total of 130 runs. They required wickets in quick intervals and Ishant Sharma just delivered the same and made sure that DC ended the powerplay on a high.

Shocked Titans hands over an easy victory to the Capitals

Gujarat Titans, a team well known for its chases, handed the match to DC by 5 runs. After Mohammed Shami's brilliant spell upfront, DC were almost knocked out of the game. But somehow the Capitals managed to keep their heads above water with this narrow win against the Table-Toppers.

Winning the toss and batting first, Shami's spell of 4-0-11-4 threw DC in disarray. Reduced to 23/5 within the powerplay, DC's innings were resurrected by Aman Khan and Axar Patel with the former nothing up his maiden IPL fifty. Axar Patel looked good until his stay lasted. In the end, the runs didn't seem enough to defend against the heavyweights of GT.

The bowlers kept it tight and wickets kept coming in intervals until Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar took the game deep. In the second last over of the innings, Rahul Tewatia's three consecutive sixes off Anirch Nortje almost did the job for them only to lose it in the last over, courtesy of Ishant's magnificent last over.
