In match No. 61 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) fielder Jos Buttler showcased his brilliant fielding skills at the boundary rope as he saved a maximum of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ravindra Jadeja at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 12.

After being asked to bat first, Rajasthan were reduced to just 141/5 in 20 overs after a brilliant bowling effort from Chennai.

Riyan Parag remained unbeaten on 47, whereas other Royals batters Yashasvi Jaiswal (24), Jos Buttler (21) and Dhruv Jurel (28) failed to convert their starts on a slow Chennai pitch. For Chennai, Simranjeet took a three-wicket haul, and Tushar Deshpande scalped two wickets.

While chasing 142, Chennai batters Rachin Ravindra (27), skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (42*), and Daryl Mitchell (22) contributed with the bat as the hosts registered a five-wicket win over Rajasthan.

Jos Buttler’s stunning effort at the boundary rope saves a six during CSK’s innings

The incident happened during the 15th over of Chennai’s innings, when Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson brought leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal into the attack.

In the last ball of the over, Chahal bowled a loopy delivery towards Jadeja. However, the CSK batter smashed it under the ball and lofted it towards Buttler, who was standing at the boundary rope.

It was looking like the ball would go over the rope, but Buttler made stunning work at the boundary as he caught it overhead. Buttler was losing his balance, and he quickly released the ball without touching the boundary. Rajasthan fielder Buttler saved five runs for the team.
