Watch: MS Dhoni turns up volume of speaker after failing to hear commentators due to crowd's noise
The crowd at Chepauk went crazy when Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni came out for the post-match presentation.
In the 61st match of IPL 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, KKR won by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare, in their bid to remain in the playoffs race for IPL 2023. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh put up an impressive batting performance, scoring half-centuries each and adding 99 runs for the fourth wicket. The early loss of wickets had put KKR in a tight spot, but the pair's partnership and Rana's unbeaten 57 off 44 balls ensured their victory. Rinku was dismissed for 54(43) after a direct hit by Moeen Ali.
KKR's bowlers Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine were instrumental in restricting CSK to 144/6 in their 20 overs, after opting to bat first. Both spinners picked up two wickets each, and Narine conceded only 15 runs in his 4 overs. Their efforts helped KKR reduce CSK to 72/5 in 11 overs, before Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube added 68 runs for the sixth wicket. Dube's unbeaten 48 off 34 balls was the only highlight of CSK's batting. KKR's win keeps them in contention for a place in the playoffs.
MS Dhoni battles loud crowd noise to speak with commentators
Chennai Super Kings' captain MS Dhoni faced a challenge communicating with commentators after the match against Kolkata Knight Riders due to the loud noise from the home crowd. As the match marked the last home game of CSK at Chepauk during IPL 2023 league phase, the crowd went wild when MS Dhoni went to speak to the commentators. However, the noise level was so high that he was unable to hear the commentators' voices. MS Dhoni had to turn up the volume of the speaker himself to overcome the crowd's noise and hear the commentators better.
