Ravindra Jadeja castled David Miller to pick his 151st wicket in the IPL history.

On May 23, 2023, the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

GT finished first in the IPL 2023 points table with 10 victories and 20 points in 14 matches, while CSK ended second with 17 points from 8 wins and one no result in 14 matches.

Hardik Pandya struck first after the GT captain won the toss and choose to bowl first. GT made one change, with Darshan Nalkande replacing Yash Dayal in the XI. CSK, on the other hand, remained unaltered.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway of CSK got off to a cautious start. They accelerated as Ruturaj appeared to be in great shape and Conway battled to find his rhythm. Gaikwad had scored 87 after reaching 60 in 44 balls with 1 six and 7 fours before top-edging a short ball off Mohit Sharma and getting caught at long off by David Miller.

Shivam Dube, CSK's most in-form and dangerous batter, entered the game, and much was expected of the left-hander who has been pounding sixes right-left and center. Noor Ahmad, on the other hand, ended his stay with a stunning googly, clean bowled him for 1.

Then Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu both went for 17 runs as the experienced pair failed to accelerate at the end of the innings.

In the end, Chennai Super Kings tried to get rapid runs but continued losing wickets, with MS Dhoni trailing Rayudu and Rahane for 1 run. CSK finished with 172/7 in 20 overs after Ravindra Jadeja made 22 in 16 with two fours and Moeen Ali smashed Shami for six in the last over.

David Miller falls to Ravindra Jadeja in an attempt to up the ante as GT falls behind in the chase

GT didn’t have the best of starts as Wriddhiman Saha fell for 12 runs and he was then followed by Hardik Pandya (8) and Dasun Shanaka (17). Only Shubman Gill held one end up with 42 in 38 balls.

Much acceleration was expected from David Miller, as GT were 88/3 in the 13th over, but it was not to be his day, as Ravindra Jadeja completed his 4-over quota by clean bowling him, as the South African tried to hit him for a six.
