Watch: Sandeep Sharma takes a stunning diving catch to send back Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Airborne Sandeep Sharma sent back Rahmanullah Gurbaz with a stunner at mid-off.

Nearing the business end of the tournament, IPL 2023 has witnessed some of the most spectacular catches in the league. One such catch was taken by Sandeep Sharma when he took a flight to catch the ball toward his right to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The incident took place at the beginning of the fifth over of the KKR innings.

Sandeep Sharma, who has already taken a few good catches this season, pulled out a stunner to leave everyone's jaws dropping in awe of it. On the very first ball of the fifth over, Gurbaz struck a fierce drive, in the air though, off Trent Boult's bowling. Running to his right, Sandeep Sharma put in a dive to catch the ball. His brilliant effort rewarded Boult and his team the second wicket of the innings and an important one as Gurbaz was looking in good touch.

Trent Boult provided two breakthroughs upfront to push KKR on the backfoot. First, Jason Roy and then Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell prey to Boult. Sandeep Sharma too kept the pressure on from the other end and so did the other bowlers.

KKR or RR - Who will consolidate its position in the top four?

As the season progresses, the points table has got tighter with almost all the teams in contention for the playoffs berth. With four teams standing at 10 points each of which KKR and RR are two of them, a win for either of them will help their cause to qualify for the playoffs. Every game from here on will get crucial for all the teams. Whichever of the two teams win, two crucial points will take them to the race of the top four.

RR, who managed to slip out from the top four, will eye a win after losing five games out of their last six ones. On the other hand, KKR have managed to keep itself afloat by winning games intermittently. A loss will potentially reduce the team's chances to advance to the next stage, given the roadblock in the Points Table.
