India's tour of West Indies 2023
Watch: Shannon Gabriel sends Ajinkya Rahane's stumps for a cartwheel

Ajinkya Rahane managed to score 8 runs in 36 balls before his dismissal in 2nd test against West Indies.
Shannon Gabriel had the last laugh as he sent Ajinkya Rahane’s off-stump flying on day one of the second Test between West Indies and India being played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on July 21, 2023.
India were put into bat by West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite who won the toss. Kirk McKenzie made his debut for West Indies while Shannon Gabriel replaced Rahkeem Cornwall. For Indian team, Mukesh Kumar made his debut while Shardul Thakur missed out with groin niggle.
India started well as openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal picked up from where they had left in the first Test in Dominica.
Then they had added more than 200 runs for the first innings and here, they were merciless against the West Indies bowlers as Brathwaite had to bring in spinner Jomel Warrican to bowl only after 45 minutes of play in the first session.
The duo added their second 100 plus run partnership for the first wicket in consecutive innings, but Jaiswal fell for a well-made 57 runs. Rohit Sharma looked good for his second hundred but was dismissed for 80 runs.
Then India lost a few quick wickets as after Jaiswal and Rohit, Shubman Gill (10) and Ajinkya Rahane (8) departed in succession leaving India a bit worried at 182/4.
Shannon Gabriel gets fruits for his persistence, castles Ajinkya Rahane with a beauty
It was expected of Ajinkya Rahane to make a big score and help Kohli stabilize the innings, but on the score of 8 in 35 balls, the Indian Test vice-captain was castled by Gabriel.
Rahane was dragged across the wicket by the angled ball, leaving his leg stump exposed. In an attempt to defend himself, Rahane attempted to put his bat to the ground, but the ball caught an inside edge and slammed into his off stump, sending it flying out of the ground.
Rahane was forced to look back at his destroyed stumps as Gabriel leaped into the air and celebrated by pumping his arm. Before that, Gabriel had endured a difficult day.

However, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 87* and Ravindra Jadeja’s 36* and their unbeaten 100-plus partnership, India finished day one on 288/4.
