Shimron Hetmyer slammed unbeaten 97 for Seattle Orcas in their win over MI New York.
Seattle Orcas and MI New York locked horns in the 18th match of the ongoing Major Cricket League (MLC) 2025. The encounter witnessed a dramatic finish as Shimron Hetmyer slammed a six when his team Seattle Orcas needed six runs off the final ball of the match for victory.
Orcas, led by Sikandar Raza, won the toss and opted to bowl first in the encounter. MI New York posted a huge total of 237/4 in the first innings, with an unbeaten century by Nicholas Pooran (108*) and a quickfire 35-ball-95 by Tajinder Dhillon.
During the chase, Orcas lost their openers Shayan Jahangir (14) and Josh Brown (5) cheaply. Middle-order batters Kyle Mayers (37), Sikandar Raza (30), and Heinrich Klaasen (26) added some crucial runs to the scoreboard. Later, Hetmyer slammed a match-winning knock of unbeaten 97 runs off 40 balls to help Orcas capture an unbelievable victory.

In the final over, Orcas needed nine runs for victory off Kieron Pollard’s over. The match went to the final ball, where Orcas needed six runs for victory. To everyone’s surprise, Hetmyer slammed a six towards fine leg to lead his team to victory by three wickets in the high-scoring clash.

Hetmyer slammed nine sixes and five boundaries during his match-winning 97-run knock. The left-handed batsman also helped Seattle Orcas register their first victory of MLC 2025. Earlier, they lost five consecutive games in the tournament. With one win and five defeats across six matches, Orcas currently occupy the fifth spot in the points table with two points.
