Watch: Tim Southee cleans up Rassie Van der Dussen after he scores 133 in NZ vs SA CWC 2023 match

Rassie Van der Dussen top-scored for South Africa with 133 runs before being castled by Tim Southee.

Rassie van der Dussen was dismissed by Tim Southee in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match between New Zealand and South Africa being played at the MCA Stadium in Pune on November 1, 2023.

South Africa entered this match with 5 victories in 6 games and a second-place finish in the World Cup points standings. New Zealand, on the other side, won four of their six games in the competition.

New Zealand's stand-in captain, Tom Latham, won the toss and elected to bowl first. For the Kiwis, Tim Southee replaced Lockie Ferguson, while Kagiso Rabada replaced Tabraiz Shamsi.

South Africa got off to a good start with Temba Bavuma (24) and Quinton de Kock (38 runs). While New Zealand bowlers were able to keep the scoring pace under control for the first few overs, Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen built a platform from which to launch themselves.

Quinton de Kock has had an outstanding performance in the present ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament. He began with a century against Sri Lanka in Delhi and finished with 109 against Australia in Lucknow. Then, after a couple of lackluster games, De Kock returned in spectacular fashion, scoring 174 against Bangladesh in Mumbai.

He completed his fourth century in this CWC 2023, as he made 114 in 116 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. This brought him par with Kumar Sangakkara for the most centuries by a wicket-keeper batsman in a single edition of the World Cup with 4 tons.

Meanwhile, his partner Rassie van der Dussen was hammering the lackluster Kiwi bowling from the other end. He reached his century in 101 balls and looked dangerous in his knock. He made 133 runs in 118 balls and hit 5 sixes and 9 fours in his knock.

He was looking to hit another six to start the 48th over, but experienced Tim Southee bowled a slower ball on the length which Van der Dussen couldn’t read. The ball hit his pad and clattered into his stumps, ending a brilliant knock.
