Virat Kohli caught Dean Elgar at first slip to complete his dismissal in the batter’s final innings.

South African opener Dean Elgar played final test innings of his career at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. Elgar ended his glorious cricket career with a knock of mere 12 runs against India in the second innings. in test cricket format with a mere 12 runs knock against India. Leading the South African side in his final test match, Elgar got the chance to bat twice on the first day. but he couldn’t make his last game memorable with the bat.

It was Virat Kohli who caught South African opener Dean Elgar at first slip off Mukesh Kumar. Kohli’s gesture was enough to describe the humility he showed towards the South African opener saying goodbye to the game. South African captain Elgar scored just four runs in the first innings and managed to add 12 more in the second.

Virat Kohli after taking Elgar’s catch, bowed down to one of the best South African opening batters and then ran towards him to congratulate him on a glorious test career. Former Indian skipper Kohli also hugged Elgar, while he was walking back to the dressing room. Indian players also rushed in to congratulate Elgar one by one.

Dean Elgar also received a standing ovation from the Newlands crowd and a guard of honour from the South African dressing room. Elgar had to take several body blows in his final test innings as bowlers were having a great day at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on the first day’s play. Elgar’s determination was enough to earn him the tag of one of the greatest openers in the South African setup.

Dean Elgar played 86 matches in test cricket and scored 5347 runs at an average of 37.92 with 14 test centuries and 23 half-centuries. India were Elgar’s happy-hunting opposition as he scored 1012 runs in 15 test matches against them. He played a magnificent knock of 185 runs at Supersports Park in Centurion and was awarded Player of the Match for his match-winning performance in the first test.
