[Watch] West Indies 'A' cricket team spotted loading own luggage in tempo in Nepal
West Indies âAâ are in Nepal for a five-match T20 series.
When the West Indies A players arrived in Nepal for the upcoming five-match T20 series, set to begin on April 27, they were greeted by an unexpected situation. As soon as they landed at Kathmandu Airport, it was clear that the Nepal Cricket Board did not have any systematic and arranged reception to greet the West Indies players.
In a now-viral video, the West Indies players were seen struggling with their bags. They were trying to load them onto a simple pickup truck that seemed to be their chosen means of transportation. There was no sign of a warm reception or organised transportation for the Caribbean players. They were completely ignored upon their arrival.
In addition to the less-than-ideal welcome, the players were provided with transportation in a simple tour bus that lacked the comforts of air conditioning. The West Indies cricketers clearly did not expect this and were taken aback by what unfolded. They were faced with a mode of transportation that seemed more appropriate for local tournaments than international matches. The players appeared puzzled by the sight of the makeshift pickup truck and unassuming bus, perhaps expecting a friendlier welcome when they arrived.
However, even with the simple arrangements, the bus finally departed from the airport, with a security van leading the way. Despite the security measures in place, the reception and logistical support for the visiting team were far from ideal.

The way the Nepal Cricket Board managed the West Indies situation when the team arrived at the airport, itâs only natural to wonder how ready they are to host international touring sides. The lack of proper arrangements not only reflects poorly on the boardâs organisational efficiency but also raises doubts about their ability to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for hosting international matches.
As the series approaches, itâs interesting to see if the Nepal Cricket Board will address the situation and make sure the visiting team has a smoother experience. Meanwhile, this incident is a good reminder of how crucial it is to carefully plan and pay close attention to every detail when it comes to welcoming and accommodating international athletes.
If Nepal wants to keep hosting matches, they have to improve their way of welcoming international teams. This particular reception shows Nepalâs preparedness as hosts in bad light. Having improved reception can lead to a stronger reputation and increased chances of hosting major games. Itâs more than just being hospitable; itâs about demonstrating professionalism and respect to visiting teams.
