For the first time in the history, West Indies have failed to qualify for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

West Indies have hit a new low as they will not be a part of the upcoming World Cup in India after suffering a seven-wicket loss to Scotland in Harare. This is an end of an era, as the upcoming edition will be the first time that the two-time champions will not be a part of the ICC event.

West Indies were the champions of the first two editions of the ICC Men's World Cup in 1975 and 1979. The team managed to reach the final in 1983 as well, which they lost to the Indian team.

Since then, the team has at least qualified for the prestigious event. The upcoming 13th edition will be the first year without the Caribbean team.

West Indies faced Scotland in a must-win match on Saturday. The team came into the Super Six without carrying forward any points.

Scotland dominated the former champions right from the start. Brandon McMullen was the star performer for Scotland. Initially, he grabbed three wickets and reduced West Indies to 181. He had support from Chris Sole (2/43), Mark Watt (2/25) and Chris Greaves (2/30).

While chasing a modest total, Scotland lost Christopher McBride early. However, Matthew Cross and Brandon McMullen added 125 runs for the second wicket and helped the team to win by seven wickets. Brandon McMullen was the player of the match for his 69 runs and three wickets.

With this victory, Scotland moved to the third spot in the Super Six points table. The team has two wins and a loss from their three matches. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have six points each and are in the top two positions in the points table. The teams which finish in the top two positions will qualify for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.
