The KKR vs MI clash was halted in the first innings due to rain.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are colliding with Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on May 20. KKR won the toss and opted to field first in the clash.

Kolkata made a brilliant start with the ball, clinching four wickets in the powerplay. Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, and Suryakumar Yadav lost their wickets within the first six overs.

Saurabh Dubey and Cameron Green took two wickets each to dismantle MI’s top order. MI reached 57/4 in eight overs, when the rain hampered the match.

No, KKR will not be able to reach the playoffs if their clash against MI gets washed out due to rain. Hence, a no result will lead to their elimination from the tournament.

KKR are currently placed in the eighth spot in the points table with 11 points, having won five and lost six out of 12 encounters. Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings have one more game left and other contenders to reach the playoffs.

If tonight’s game gets washed out due to rain, KKR will have 12 points in their kitty. If they win their last match, they will earn 14 points. Even if Punjab, Chennai, and Rajasthan lose their last matches, KKR will be tied with RR at 14 points. However, since RR have won more games than KKR, they will get a place in the playoffs.

According to IPL rules, in case of equal points, the team with more wins gets preference in the playoffs. Net Run Rate (NRR) comes into effect if both teams have won an equal number of games.
