IND vs AFG: What is the cut-off time for 20-over match in 1st ODI?

The IND vs AFG 1st ODI has been delayed due to rain.
After the one-off Test in New Chandigarh, India and Afghanistan are set to play a three-match ODI series, starting in Dharamsala on June 13, Saturday. The match was supposed to begin at 1:30 PM with the toss at 1:00 PM, but it has been delayed due to rain in Dharamshala.
Earlier, India won the one-off Test handsomely. Both teams will look to begin their preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 from this series. India and Afghanistan are meeting in a bilateral ODI series for the first time. They have played ODIs against each other only in the Asia Cup and the World Cup before this.
While both teams were geared up for an exciting match, the weather had different plans. The rain showers have not stopped since last night in the hill-town.
Covers have been placed over the pitch and the bowling run-up, while both teams wait in the dressing room for the rain to stop so the match can begin.
Cut-off time for a 20-over match in 1st ODI?
If the match is delayed beyond 2 PM, overs will be shortened for both innings. According to Cricbuzz, if the rain continues, the cut-off time for a 20-over match is 6:32 PM.
Dharamshala is known for its sub-air drainage system, which ensures that the ground dries quickly and the match can resume as soon as the rain stops. Another good thing is that there is no water accumulation anywhere in the outfield.
If the match is called off due to rain, the teams will travel to Lucknow for the second ODI, scheduled for June 17.

Shubman Gill and Co. were set to take field as they will look to try newer combinations ahead of the big tournament. For the same purpose, they added Gurnoor Brar, the IPL-sensation Prince Yadav and the Vijay Hazare trophy-winning captain Harsh Dubey in the squad. India are still preparing their pace-attack for the World Cup, and trying more spin-bowling all-rounders.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan has staged a comeback in the 50-over format after his purple patch in the T20s. He was seen practicing as wicket-keeper ahead of the clash, and was most likely to be given the No.3 batting spot, in the absence of Virat Kohli.
Moreover, with Hardik Pandya’s injury concerns, the Indian management have also started preparing Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana as his potential backups for the tournament. Reddy is also a part of the present ODI series, and will get games on the trot. He had a standout IPL 2026 season with 302 runs and 8 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
