Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan starred in India’s historic run chase.

The One-Day Internationals have always been one of the most popular formats of cricket. The long 50 overs in each innings with the white ball make it interesting, as it is a combination of Test cricket and modern-day T20 cricket.

Chasing a big total in this format has never been easy, as teams have to keep the required run rate in check while also building a few important long partnerships. Over the years, we have witnessed some tremendous successful run chases, courtesy of a few incredible knocks. The highest successful chase in this format was achieved by South Africa when they chased down a target of 435 against Australia in 2006.

The Indian Cricket Team are known for producing some of the greatest batting giants in ODI cricket. From the era of Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, fans have had the pleasure of witnessing their mastery.

One thing that separated them from others was their ability to perform under pressure. No total has ever seemed big enough when they have come good. On that note, let’s have a look at the highest successful run chase achieved by the India One-Day Internationals.

The highest successful run chase by the India is also regarded as one of their most dominant batting performances ever. Australia toured India for a seven-match ODI series in 2013, and it was an incredible series that left fans with many unforgettable memories.

It was the start of a new era for Indian cricket as the top order, consisting of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, stepped up in this series and played at their absolute best. The Indian team chased down 350-plus targets twice during the series, with their highest successful chase coming in Jaipur.

Men in Blue’s highest successful run chase came when they chased down a target of 360 runs against Australia at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. This match is considered iconic because the Indian top-order batters almost single-handedly completed the chase. Shikhar Dhawan scored 95 runs, Rohit Sharma made 141 runs, and Virat Kohli smashed 100 runs, which remains the fastest ODI century by an Indian batter to date.

It remains one of the greatest batting displays by a trio in ODI cricket, and they continued that form later in the series by chasing down another 350-plus target in Nagpur. It also marked the beginning of the dominance of these three players in ODI cricket and, eventually, in world cricket.
