India hold the record for scoring 200 or more most times in the history of T20I cricket. They even hold the record for the highest total in the knockout game of the T20 World Cup.
Not just in the first innings, they have also crossed the 200-run mark in the second innings. The Men in Blue have scored 200 or more 11 times while batting second. Out of these, 8 times they have recorded a win.

With a power-packed batting lineup and batting-friendly conditions, India have posted some really big scores on the board. In fact, they are the only full-member side to have crossed the 270-run mark thrice.
They are the only side to cross the 250-run mark seven times so far. All these records are related to the first-inning scores. But what is India’s highest run chase in this format?
Their highest run chase is 209, which they have achieved twice in T20Is. The first time they did it against Australia in 2023 in Vizag. The Men in Blue chased down 209/8 with just one ball left to spare. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (80 off 42) and Ishan Kishan (58 off 39) played key roles in that win.
On the second occasion, India chased down 209/3 against New Zealand in 2026 in Raipur. It was a dramatic game, as India were 6/2 chasing the score. Ishan Kishan (76 off 32) and Suryakumar (82* off 37) added 122 runs for the third wicket to put India in a strong position.
Shivam Dube’s cameo of 36* off 18 took Men in Blue over the line. They have also scored 211/4 runs while chasing against Sri Lanka in 2009, but the target was 207.
What is the highest successful run chase for Team India in T20Is?
Their highest successful run-chase in T20Is is 209 (on two different occasions). One against Australia (Vizag, 2023) and the other one against New Zealand (Raipur, 2026).
