India and the West Indies faced each other in ODIs for the last time in 2023. And after three years, they are set to lock horns in a three-match series of 50-over matches, starting from September 27.
Talking about their recent form, the West Indies last played a five-match ODI series against New Zealand in July. They won the first match by 7 wickets; however, they then suffered three consecutive losses against the Black Caps while trying to defend a total. The hosts lost the series 3-2, and all five matches were won by the chasing side.
Meanwhile, India‘s last ODI series came against England. In the three-match series, the Men in Blue won the first game by 6 wickets. However, England later won the remaining two games to avoid a home upset. The ODIs were followed by a five-match T20I series, where India lost 4-0.

The two sides clashed in 2023 during India’s build-up for the ICC Cricket World Cup, where the Men in Blue finished as runner-ups while the West Indies failed to qualify.
Starting the series in Kensington Oval in Barbados, India won the first match by 5 wickets, courtesy of a total of seven wickets by Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.
At the same venue, the hosts made a comeback in the series by winning the second game. Rohit Sharma was rested for the match, and Hardik Pandya was given the opportunity to captain the side. However, due to a collapse in the batting and being bowled out at 181, the Men in Blue lost the match by 6 wickets with 13 overs to spare.
The decider was played at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, as the hosts were keen to secure their first ODI series win over India since 2006. However, India posted a target of 352 for the Caribbean side. Mukesh Kumar took three wickets while Shardul Thakur dismissed four batters as the West Indies were dismantled at 151. India won the final match by 200 runs and the series 2-1.
