The Men in Blue defeated the Black Caps by five wickets at the Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday. New Zealand had a poor start to their innings as Will Young and Henry Nicholls lost their wickets inside powerplay. In the end, Blair Tickner (34) played a vital hand that powered New Zealand to 185. For India, Arshdeep Singh took four wickets.
Rohit Sharma bagged a six-ball duck to start the chase for India; however, Virat Kohli (74) and Shubman Gill (37) steadied the innings. But rain played the spoilsport and the game was reduced to 32 overs per side with India needing 143 runs.
Kohli and Gill continued from where they left before the rain break and added over 100 runs for the third wicket. Kohli slammed a brisk half-century while Gill got dismissed just before his half-century. Although, India lost few quick wickets in the end, they managed to chase the target with five wickets in hand.
