Dewald Brevis did not play in CSK’s first two games in IPL 2026.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have witnessed a dismal start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign. The Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. have lost both the opening games and are placed at the last spot in the points table.
CSK lost their opening game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by eight wickets. They were bowled out for just 127 runs in the first innings and RR chased the target with ease.
They came up with a better batting show in their next game against Punjab Kings (PBKS), posting 209/5 in the first innings. However, it was not enough for victory as Punjab chased down the target by five wickets.
Notably, CSK missed the services of their star batter Dewald Brevis in both matches. He is recovering from a side strain, which he sustained just ahead of start of IPL 2026. Chennai will next clash with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 5 (Sunday). However, Brevis will also miss the next game.

As per journalist Rohit Juglan of Revsportz, Brevis will play for CSK in their fourth game against Delhi Capitals (DC). It will take place on April 11 at Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
