Indian Cricket Team have played 33 ODIs in the year 2023.

In the wake of the conclusion of South Africa tour, cricket fans eagerly await the next opportunity to witness Indian Cricket Team in action in the One-day internationals (ODIs). However, FTP reveals a surprising trend, hinting at a significant break for Men In Blue in the ODIs.

Indian cricket have recently showcased the brand of cricket they play in ODIs, claiming victory in Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka and dominating in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 by winning all ten league games. Although they faced a setback in the finals against Australia, the journey highlighted India’s remarkable performance in the ODIs in the year of 2023.

India’s next ODI match

India are next scheduled to play two tests against South Africa in the ongoing tour and then against Afghanistan and England at home in starting and mid of 2024, both of the series does not include any ODIs. This paves the way directly for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in USA and West Indies. This strategic move indicates a shift in focus towards the shorter format of the game.

The next opportunity to witness Indian Cricket Team in ODI action will arise during their tour of Sri Lanka in July 2024, following the conclusion of IPL 2024 and ICC T20 World Cup. This extended break from ODIs highlights a potential trend in international cricket, a decline in the prominence of the 50-over format.

The absence of ODIs in India’s upcoming series until July 2024 underscores a shift in priorities towards T20 cricket. While the team’s recent ODI successes are commendable, the current trend in scheduling reflects the change in international cricket. As Indian Cricket Team prepares for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, cricket fans may need to brace themselves for a prolonged wait to witness their favourite players in the ODIs.
