Jake Fraser-McGurk has hit two 15-ball fifties in the ongoing IPL 2024 for Delhi Capitals.

Jake Fraser-McGurk came into the limelight for his amazing hitting prowess in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He is playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the tournament and has already twice scored half-centuries in just 15 balls.

The recent most incident of him scoring at a furious rate came when DC took on Mumbai Indians on April 27, 2024 in Delhi. MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first in the heat of Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Jake Fraser-McGurk opened with Abishek Porel and took the attack to MI bowlers from ball one. Fraser-McGurk equaled his record of the fastest fifty in this IPL 2024 in just 15 balls. He smashed 84 in just 27 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes to his name before he was dismissed by Piyush Chawla.

When McGurk had gotten out, DC were at 114 in only 7.3 overs. This is after he had scored a 15-ball fifty on his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants. Since then, the Australian batter has scored a fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad as well and has been giving DC flying starts.

The way McGurk came in sight of IPL scouts was thanks to his amazing century in Australia’s domestic one-day cricket tournament, the Marsh Cup, when he broke AB de Villiers’ record of the fastest List-A century of all time.

Jake Fraser-McGurk breaks AB de Villiers’ record for the fastest century in List A cricket

Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk created a world record in List-A cricket when he went past South African legend AB de Villiers in the list for the fastest century in List-A cricket with his 29-ball century in the Marsh Cup tournament back in October 2023.

At Adelaide’s Karen Rolton Oval, where South Australia were playing Tasmania, Fraser-McGurk amassed a 29-ball century as he pursued the visitors’ 435, the highest total in Australian domestic one-day history.

Earlier, Tasmania thrashed 435/9 thanks to scores of 116 from captain Jordan Silk, 90 from opener Caleb Jewell, and 51 runs from Macalister Wright. Henry Thornton got 2/85 for South Australia, while Brendon Doggett and Wes Agar each claimed three wickets.

When South Australia batted, Jake Fraser-McGurk quickly dispatched the Tasmanian bowlers from. In Sam Rainbird’s second over of the innings, he hit four sixes and two fours on his route to scoring 32 runs.

Fraser-McGurk broke Glenn Maxwell’s previous record of 19 balls to achieve his 50 in just 18 balls, making it the fastest half-century in Australia’s domestic one-day championship.

He then increased the intensity of his knock and gave Billy Stanlake three straight sixes. He subsequently reached his century by hitting a boundary and a single. He took only 29 balls for his ton.

Fraser-McGurk’s outrageous innings came to an end in the 12th over after hitting four straight fours and a six in the 10th over, with South Australia on 172 runs. The right-hander scored 125 in 38 balls with 10 fours and 13 sixes.

Fraser-McGurk beat AB de Villiers’ record for the fastest List-A century with this knock. 2015 saw AB de Villiers smash an ODI century off 31 balls against the West Indies, which was then the fastest hundred in List A cricket. AB de Villiers’ 31-ball ton is still the fastest in ODIs.
