India have been extremely dominant in their home conditions in tests. Barring the series loss against New Zealand last year, they have hardly put a foot wrong in their innings. On the other hand, South Africa don’t enjoy playing much in India because of their poor record.
In India, the two teams have played 19 tests and out of this, the hosts have won 11, while the Proteas have managed just five wins with three games ending in a draw. Hence, the upcoming test series will be a great challenge for them.
Talking about South Africa’s last test win in India, it came in 2010. The Proteas team won the opening match of the series in Nagpur, bagging a massive innings and six run-win to start the series on a high.
The Proteas posted a mammoth total of 558 runs in the first innings with Hashim Amla (253) starring with a double ton. Jacques Kallis (173) also played a magical innings, powering the team to the big total.
India struggled with the bat, getting all out for 233 runs in the first innings. After being enforced follow-on, they still couldn’t go past South Africa’s total, getting all out for 319 in the second innings, losing by a big margin.
