Young 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave a brilliant performance for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League 2026. He yet again stood tall on the big occasion and proved why is he rated so highly.
Batting as an opener, he scored 776 runs in 16 games at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 237.30. He also hammered one century and five half-centuries in the tournament. The left-handed batsman finished as the leading run-scorer for his team.
Sooryavanshi helped RR to get blistering starts in many games. He also single-handedly led them to victory in a few games. For instance, his 97-run knock in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad helped RR to win the encounter.
Moreover, he also scored a crucial half-century in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans, but RR eventually lost the encounter by seven wickets. After a successful show in IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi will soon play for the junior Indian team.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to play in Sri Lanka A tri-series after IPL 2026
Notably, Vaibhav is set to play for India A in the ODI Tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. He has been picked in the India A squad, which will be captained by Tilak Varma.
The Tri-series will commence on June 9 with the opening game between Sri Lanka and India. The final will take place on June 21.
In July, India U19 team is set to tour Sri Lanka for an unofficial ODI and test series. Both sides will play three ODIs and two tests during the campaign. Sooryavanshi will also be picked in the squad.
Moreover, Indian Cricket Team are set to tour Ireland for a two-match T20I series in June. After his impressive performance in IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi is expected to get picked in the India squad.
Selectors usually send a second-string squad for such tours and Sooryavanshi is likely to get a spot and make his international debut in the campaign.
