When will Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma next play for India?

After T20, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also retired from Test cricket earlier this month.
Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from tests. Sharma announced his retirement from the red-ball format on May 7. A few days later, Kohli also pulled down the curtains in the longest format on Monday, May 12.
Sharma and Kohli also announced their retirement from T20Is last year. In June 2024, both the batting legends retired from the shortest format following India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. Hence, Sharma and Kohli will only represent the national side in ODIs from now on. Sharma is also the skipper of the Indian Cricket Team in the 50-over format.
Both players are currently busy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which will resume on May 17 and witness the final on June 3. Notably, the Indian Cricket Team‘s next international assignment is the forthcoming away test series against England, which will commence in June.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will next play for India in August
Team India will play five Test matches on the 2025 England tour. The series starts on June 20 with the opening test and will conclude with the 5th and final test in the first week of August. India will only face England in a test series during the tour. Hence, Sharma and Kohli will not be seen in the national jersey for the next two months.
After the England tour, the Indian Cricket Team will tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series. The men in blue will face their Asian neighbours in three ODIs and three T20Is during the tour. The ODI series will be played first. The 1st ODI is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 17.
Hence, Sharma and Kohli will next play for India in August during this series. However, it will also depend on the fact that they do not face any injuries or fitness issues ahead of the India vs Bangladesh series. As of now, both are busy in IPL 2025. Sharma and Kohli are openers for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) respectively in IPL 2025.
