Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma last played for India in the ODI series against New Zealand in January.
India are currently busy in the T20 World Cup 2026, where they have reached the semi-finals. While fans are enjoying India’s thrilling performance, they will surely miss batting stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who helped the team win the last edition in 2024.
Rohit and Virat announced their retirement after winning the T20 World Cup in 2024. Last year, they also pulled the curtains down on test cricket and are only active in the 50-over format. They look forward to playing in the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.
The duo last played for India in the ODI series against New Zealand in January, where India suffered a 2-1 series defeat at home. Despite the series loss, Kohli won everyone’s heart with his brilliant performance and was the team’s highest run-scorer with 240 runs. He also slammed a century and a half-century across three games.
On the other hand, Rohit could not make a mark with the bat, registering scores of 11, 24, and 26 across his three outings. Both the former Indian captains are now gearing up for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026).
While Rohit will represent the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the campaign, Kohli will play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The IPL 2026 will start in the last week of March and conclude in the last week of May. Therefore, both Rohit and Virat will not play for the Indian team over the next three months.

After the T20 World Cup 2026 concludes with the final on March 8, India have no international campaign until the end of May.
After IPL 2026, the Men-in-Blue are scheduled to host Afghanistan in June for a test and ODI series. The one-off test will be played from June 6 to 10, followed by three ODI games.
The first ODI game will take place on June 14 in Dharamsala, which will be Rohit and Virat’s next assignment for the Indian Cricket Team. The next two matches will be played in Lucknow and Chennai on June 17 and 20, respectively.
