New Zealand batter Finn Allen has looked a class apart with the bat in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. The opening batter has shown a great form and is the leading run-scorer for the Black Caps in the tournament – third overall.
At an average of 57.80 and strike rate of 203.52 ,he has scored 289 runs in seven innings to go with one century and one half-century. Allen played a pivotal role in New Zealand‘s victory in the semi-final against South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 4.
The opening batter hit an unbeaten century off 33 deliveries in the 170-run chase, and took his team to victory by nine wickets like a walk in the park.
In the match, Allen scripted the record for the fastest century in T20 World Cup history. He also became the third New Zealand batsman to score a hundred in T20 World Cup. Hitting eight sixes, he made the record for most sixes by a Kiwi batter in a T20 World Cup match.
Finn Allen to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026

Notably, the 26-year-old batter will represent Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League 2026. The New Zealand batter was acquired by the three-time champions for his base price of INR 2 crore in the IPL 2026 auction.
Allen, who is yet to make his debut in the tournament, has been part of IPL since the 2021 edition, when he was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as a replacement for Josh Phillippe at a price of INR 20 lakh. However, he didn’t get an opportunity to play a single game.
He was bought by RCB in the IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 80 lakh but warmed the bench throughout the season. He was retained for the 2023 season but same story unfolded for him in that edition as well. Things got worse for him when he went unsold in 2024 and 2025 season.
