Jacob Bethell scored a century for England in semi-final against India in T20 World Cup 2026.

The semi-final 2 between India and England is taking place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. After England won the toss and opted to field first, India posted a mammoth total.

Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan etched a stand of 97 runs for the second wicket to provide a marvellous start to India’s batting despite losing Abhishek Sharma early. Samson got out for 89 runs off 42 balls, while Kishan scored 18-ball 39. With crucial additions by Shivam Dube (43), Hardik Pandya (27), and Tilak Varma (21), India piled up 253/7 in the first innings.

In the chase, England lost Phil Salt, Harry Brook, and Jos Buttler inside power play. Jacob Bethel kept the winning hopes alive with his marvellous batting show. With his aggressive batting style from the start, he reached his half-century off just 19 deliveries.

Later, he went on to score a century and gave his best efforts to drive England to victory. However, he faced an unlucky run-out in the last over, getting out for 105 runs off 48 deliveries. Smacking eight fours and seven boundaries, Bethell was a stand-out batter to watch out for.

Which team will Jacob Bethell represent in IPL 2026?

Bethell will be part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The England batter was part of the team in the previous edition too, where his side won the title. However, he left the team ahead of the playoffs due to international duties. In his place, the franchise roped in Tim Seifert for ₹2 crore.

Bethell has played two games in the IPL with his last match being against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23. He was retained by RCB for the next season for INR 2.60 crore.

Speaking about IND vs ENG match, the Suryakumar Yadav & Co. won the encounter by seven runs. England could only reach 243/7 in the second innings. Now, India will lock horns with New Zealand in the final on March 8 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
