The foundation of this tournament was laid in 1961-62, and the 63rd edition is set to begin on August 23 (Sunday). Central Zone won the last edition, defeating South Zone in the final. They will defend their title in the upcoming 2026-27 Duleep Trophy.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mohammed Shami, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Rajat Patidar, Ishan Kishan, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, and many other big names will be in action. The teams are Central Zone, North Zone, West Zone, South Zone, East Zone and the North East Zone.

There will be five games in the upcoming season. Central Zone (last edition champion) and South Zone (last edition runners-up) will play in the semi-final. Meanwhile, the other four teams will face each other in the quarter-finals, and the two winning teams will advance to the semis.
The final will take place at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai between September 6 and 10, while other games will be played at BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) grounds 1 & 2.

Devajit Saikia, honorary secretary of the BCCI, confirmed, “We have also increased coverage of the tournament, and all matches of the Duleep Trophy will be streamed live, and there will also be TV coverage of one quarter-final, one semi-final, and the final.”
