Angkrish Raghuvanshi announced his arrival in the IPL with a fifty on his maiden innings.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, 18-year-old young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi is the latest name to ignite excitement in Indian cricket. The right-handed batter, who also bowls left-arm orthodox spin bowling, has quickly captured the eyes of the cricket fraternity in the toughest cricket league. 

The youngster made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against the Royal Challengers in match No. 10 of the 2024 edition at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 29. However, Raghuvanshi couldn’t bat during the RCB vs KKR high-voltage clash, as Kolkata won the game by seven wickets.

In match No. 16 of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, the 18-year-old batter played a blistering knock of 54 runs on 27 balls, including five fours and three sixes. He had a staggering strike rate of 200 during his stay at the crease. Angkrish also stitched a valuable second-wicket partnership of 104 runs with KKR opener Sunil Narine.

Who is KKR’s young sensation Angkrish Raghuvanshi?

KKR batter Angkrish hails from Delhi, where he was born on June 5, 2005. The youngster is known for his aggressive batting style, and he can also chip in with his left-arm orthodox bowling, adding versatility to his skillset. Raghuvanshi left Gurgaon at the age of 11 and moved to Mumbai to hone his skills.

The young kid was also part of the Indian U-19 squad in 2022. He smashed 278 runs in six games with an stunning average of 46.23 to become the leading run-getter for his side in the showpiece event. India ended up being the champions under the captaincy of Yash Dhull.

The youngster made his T20 debut for the Mumbai side against Haryana in October 2023. In List A cricket, Raghuvanshi made his debut for Mumbai against Sikkim on November 20, 2023. The right-handed batter played his last List A match against Saurasthra in December.

The two-time champions KKR acquired his services for INR 20 lakhs at the IPL 2024 auction. In his maiden batting innings against DC in Visakhapatnam, Raghuvanshi struck his maiden IPL fifty and justified his worth.
