Bangladesh cricket team speedster Hasan Mahmud has had an impressive start to his test career. During the India vs Bangladesh first test in Chennai, which is his fourth test match, Mahmud delivered a stunning opening spell that accounted for three huge wickets before he took another prized scalp in his second spell.

Mahmud dismissed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6) before lunch and then took the wicket of wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant (39) at the start of the second session.

Against an Indian batting line-up that is filled with quality and experienced batters, Mahmud bowled with terrific accuracy in his lines and lengths. He troubled the Indian batters with seam movement off the surface and his angles.

Who is Hasan Mahmud?

Hasan Mahmud was born on October 12, 1999, in Laxmipur, Bangladesh. In 2020, he made his T20I debut at the age of only 19. The youngster made his ODI debut against the West Indies in Mirpur in January 2021. Mahmud played his maiden test match against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in August 2024.

Ahead of the first test against India, Mahumd had played three tests, 22 ODIs, and 18 T20Is, and had snapped 14 wickets in tests, 30 in ODIs, and 18 in T20Is.

Against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, he bagged a five-wicket haul.

The rise of Hasan Mahmud!

Hasan Mahmud is one of the rising stars from his country with his ability to bowl accurately and consistently. He has impressive control over his lines and lengths and can seam the ball both ways using his angles. The cricketing world saw Mahmud’s rising during the ICC U-19 World Cup 2018, where he took nine wickets from six outings at an average of 19.33.

In 2019-20, Mahmud took 10 wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament. In the Bangabandhu T20 Cup in November 2020, the speedster scalped 11 wickets for Gemcon Khulna.
