Harvik Desai replaced the injured Vishnu Vinod in the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2024.
Harvik Desai, the Saurashtra wicket-keeper batter, was announced as the replacement player by Mumbai Indians (MI) for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Harvik replaced Vishnu Vinod in the MI squad for the IPL 2024, as Vinod suffered a forearm injury.
Vinod played three matches for the Mumbai Indians last year in the IPL and scored a total of 37 runs, including a highest of 30. Vinod has been part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals in the past but played in the IPL only in 2017 before 2023, for the Virat Kohli-led side.
On the other hand, Desai has been impressive for Saurashtra in domestic cricket, scoring centuries in all three forms. He was also a member of the 2018 U19 World Cup winning team, which included Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Riyan Parag, Arshdeep Singh, and Abhishek Sharma.

Harvik Desai has been a regular performer for Saurashtra in First Class (FC) cricket, excelling in all games and formats. Given that this is his first call-up to the lucrative IPL, the 24-year-old will be aiming to display his abilities if and when the occasion arises.
Desai was born on October 4th, 1999 in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Harvik Desai completed his highest schooling studies at the Saint Xaviers High School, Bhavnagar. His father Manish Desai is a Tailor by profession.
Harvik made his debut on 1 November 2018 in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. He has played 46 FC matches, scoring 2658 runs with 5 centuries and 16 fifties to his name with best score of 116. In 40 List-A games, he has 1341 runs with 4 centuries and 9 fifties with best score of 102.
In 24 T20 matches, Harvik Desai has scored 291 runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 134, with one century and four half-centuries. In addition, he has achieved centuries in all three game formats.
Desai had a phenomenal Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in where he amassed 336 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 175, including a highest of 104*.
