Harvik Desai replaced the injured Vishnu Vinod in the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2024.

Harvik Desai, the Saurashtra wicket-keeper batter, was announced as the replacement player by Mumbai Indians (MI) for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Harvik replaced Vishnu Vinod in the MI squad for the IPL 2024, as Vinod suffered a forearm injury.

Vinod played three matches for the Mumbai Indians last year in the IPL and scored a total of 37 runs, including a highest of 30. Vinod has been part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals in the past but played in the IPL only in 2017 before 2023, for the Virat Kohli-led side.

On the other hand, Desai has been impressive for Saurashtra in domestic cricket, scoring centuries in all three forms. He was also a member of the 2018 U19 World Cup winning team, which included Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Riyan Parag, Arshdeep Singh, and Abhishek Sharma.

“24-year-old Saurashtra wicket-keeper batter, Harvik Desai is all set to join the Mumbai Indians family for IPL 2024. An under-19 World Cup winner, Harvik made his domestic debut across formats in the 2018-19 season and averages over 30 at a healthy strike rate of 134.17 in T20s. Harvik scored the winning runs for India in the 2018 under-19 World Cup final.

Welcome to the Blue and Gold, Harvik! We cannot wait to see you smack them big. Paltan, let’s lay out the red carpet,” Mumbai Indians wrote on their website.

Interestingly, Harvik scored the winning runs for India in the 2018 under-19 World Cup final.
