The United States of America (USA), co-hosts of the T20 World Cup 2024, announced their squad for the tournament. This tournament will be jointly played in the USA and West Indies from June 1-29.

Monank Patel, the experienced wicket-keeper batsman, continues to lead the team, with Aaron Jones as his deputy. Star pacer Ali Khan returned to the team after missing the Canada series with a hamstring injury.

The United States have been put in Group A alongside neighbors Canada and Ireland, as well as Asian powerhouses India and Pakistan.

Former New Zealand cricketer Corey Anderson is also in the squad, joining a lengthy list of cricketers who have represented both countries in international cricket. Corey’s participation will improve the United States’ chances at the World Cup, where they face India and Pakistan in Group A.

Pakistan-origin batter Shayan Jahangir also returned to the team with Gajanand Singh and Usman Rafiq missing the World Cup squad. Gajanand only finds a place among reserves alongside Juanoy Drysdale and Yasir Mohammad.

The USA squad also features former India cricketers like Saurabh Netravalkar, Harmeet Singh, and Milind Kumar.

The USA will kick-off their World Cup campaign with an opening clash against neighbors Canada in Dallas on June 1 and face title favorites Indian team in New York on June 12.

All you need to know about Milind Kumar

One of the most known Indian names after Saurabh Netravalkar in the USA team is that of Milind Kumar. Milind Kumar represented Delhi and Sikkim in Indian domestic cricket tournament, Ranji Trophy. He was also part of the Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchises in the Indian Premier League.

He played 46 FC, 65 List A, and 61 T20 matches and after migrating to the USA, has played 3 T20Is as well. He announced his retirement from Indian cricket in 2021 and followed the footsteps of former India under-19 captain Unmukt Chand and other Indian players like Smit Patel, Harmeet Singh, and Siddarth Trivedi and signed with Minor League Cricket in the USA.

Milind Kumar, who had scored over 1000 runs in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season, was part of the Delhi side in the 2014 IPL and was with RCB in the 2019 season. But he couldn’t play a single match for either of the franchises.

He was part of the Delhi side which defeated England in a practice match in 2013 where he scored 78* off 85. He also represented the Board President’s XI against New Zealand in 2017.

Milind has also played for the Texas Super Kings in the high-profile Major League Cricket (MLC), which was launched last year. He made his USA debut in T20Is against Canada and played three matches, scoring 4* and 16 runs.
