Saransh Jain is a 33-year-old bowling all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh who bowls right-arm off-spin and bats left-handed. He has earned his maiden call-up to the Indian Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka after consistent performances in domestic cricket.
Since the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy season, Jain has played for Madhya Pradesh in domestic competitions. He has proven himself as a consistent all-rounder in first-class cricket with performances showing he is a good bowler and batsman, claiming 188 wickets and scoring 2223 runs.
His impressed many with his performance for India A in the unofficial Test matches against Sri Lanka A . In the second unofficial Test match in Galle, he took wickets in both innings and contributed with the bat, with one of the innings ending with him scoring above 50 runs.
Jain has been selected as Sundar was ruled out of the first Test because of fitness issues. He has been selected as a spin option besides the other slow bowlers of the Indian team while playing Sri Lanka.
