Jammu & Kashmir have scripted history in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 by reaching the final for the first time in the tournament’s history. In the summit clash against Karnataka, their batter Shubham Singh Pundir slammed a century in the first innings to provide a spectacular start to the batting.
Jammu & Kashmir captain Paras Dogra won the toss and opted to bat first. After losing opener Qamran Iqbal for a single digit, his partner Yawer Hassan and No. 3 Shubham Pundir etched a 100-plus stand for the second wicket.
While Hassan lost his wicket for 88 runs, Pundir went on to score 121 runs off 247 deliveries. His innings was laced with 12 fours and two sixes.
Before losing his wicket, he built another crucial 100-plus stand with captain Paras Dogra for the third wicket. Till the second session on Day 2, Jammu crossed 450-plus runs on the board for the loss of five wickets.

Shubham Singh Pundir is a left-handed batsman who plays in the middle order. The 27-year-old player was born on October 16, 1998, in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He made his debut in Indian domestic cricket in January 2015 for Jammu & Kashmir in a clash against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy.
Despite being active in domestic cricket for over 10 years, he has played only 31 first-class matches and has featured in 41 List A games and 42 T20Is.
At an average of 27.57, he has scored 1,296 runs in 50 innings in his first-class career with three centuries and an equal number of half-centuries. He lacks an impressive record in List A and T20 career, averaging below 28 in both formats and not scored any centuries so far.
Pundir, who hails from Dehradun, started playing cricket at a young age for local clubs and his school team. Later, he began his formal training at Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy in Jammu.
When he made his debut for Jammu & Kashmir in domestic cricket in 2015, he became the third youngest player ever to play for the team.
At the age of 19 years, he was also nominated as the captain of the team for the Sir Vizzy Trophy in 2018. With his ton in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final, he has become the first-ever batter to score a century for Jammu & Kashmir in the tournament’s final.
