Who is Sourabh Kumar? All you need to know about Indian all-rounder included in squad for 2nd IND vs ENG test

Sourabh Kumar has been included in India’s test squad for 2nd IND vs ENG test.
In a significant blow to Indian cricket team, the upcoming second test against England in the ongoing five-match test series is set to be played without key players like Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul. Both players, instrumental in India’s previous successes, have been ruled out due to respective injuries, intensifying the challenges for the team following their defeat in the first test in Hyderabad.
The cricketing world had anticipated a strong comeback from the home team, but the news of Jadeja and Rahul getting ruled out will surely hurt Indian team in the second test. To address these setbacks, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made strategic additions to the squad. Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar have been included in the squad for the second test.
Who is Sourabh Kumar ?

Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer Sourabh Kumar has been called up as one of the replacements. Born on May 1st, 1993, in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, the 30-year-old left-arm spin bowler and handy batter made his First Class debut in 2014. With an impressive record of 2061 runs and 290 wickets in 68 matches at an average of 24.41, Sourabh Kumar brings a wealth of FC experience to the team.
Sourabh Kumar has been a part of several India A tours, shining notably during the Bangladesh tour in 2022 where he took 15 wickets in two matches, contributing to India A’s series win. Despite being a part of Indian senior team’s tour of Bangladesh in 2022, he didn’t get a chance to play.
He also helped the Rest of India win the Irani Cup in 2023, where he took four wickets. Although he was part of India’s home test series against Sri Lanka in 2022, Sourabh Kumar couldn’t secure a spot in the playing XI.
He is currently in good form and performed well for India A in the ongoing unofficial test series against England Lions, scoring 77 and taking six wickets in the second unofficial test, Sourabh Kumar could be the surprise package that India need to bounce back from the defeat in Hyderabad.
While the inclusion of Sarfaraz Khan and Washington Sundar suggests that Kumar might not make it to the playing XI for the second test, his capabilities make him a potential game-changer for India in the series
