Who is Nishan Peiris? All you need to know about Sri Lanka's uncapped spinner

Off-spinner Nishan Peiris has decent record with the ball in the First-Class cricket.
Sri Lanka‘s uncapped off-spinner Nishan Peiris received a call-up for the upcoming second match of the two-match test series against New Zealand.
The uncapped cricketer Nishan Peiris was included after Vishwa Fernando got ruled out of the second test after suffering hamstring injury while practicing before the final match of the series against New Zealand in Galle.
Who is Nishan Peiris?
Nishan Peiris was born on August 11, 1997, in Negombo. The 27-year-old made his First-Class (FC) debut for Badureliya Sports Club against SLPACC in February 2016.
The off-spinner played his maiden List A match for Colombo against Gampaha in March 2017. Nishan played his first T20 match against Ragama in February 2018.
In FC cricket, the 27-year-old Nishan has picked 172 wickets in 41 matches at an average of 24.37. The off-spinner has bagged 86 wickets in 61 List A matches. Nishan has scalped 43 wickets in 39 matches in T20 cricket till now.
The Negombo-born cricketer has also played for the Sri Lanka Emerging Team, Sri Lanka A side, and Sri Lanka Under-19 team. He is yet to make his international debut for his nation.
Nishan Peiris was part of Sri Lanka’s test squad in the past
The off-spinner was part of Sri Lanka’s test squad in the past. In March 2018, Nishan was drafted into the squad for the third test match against England in Colombo.
Earlier this year, the uncapped spinner was included in the Sri Lanka squad for the two-match test series against Bangladesh, but he has not made his debut yet, which he will be expecting to do so against the Kiwis in Galle.
