Tanush Kotian replaced Ravichandran Ashwin in the test squad for the rest of the BGT 2024-25.

Mumbai’s Tanush Kotian is set to join Indian camp in Australia for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 as he’s been added to the squad as a replacement of Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin retired from international cricket following the conclusion of the third test of the series in Brisbane. He had played in the second test in Adelaide, but was overlooked for Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja in the first and third tests respectively.

Kotian, however, is unlikely to be part of India’s playing XI in any of the two tests – the spicy, green MCG pitch demands for only one spinner and Jadeja’s fifty in Brisbane ensured his continuation in the XI, while Sundar is already in the squad – but the youngster would take this opportunity to acclimatize himself with the Indian test squad and also make an impression on the Indian team management in the nets.
