Vrinda Dinesh became the most expensive uncapped Indian batter at the WPL 2024 auction.

After a successful inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League, preparations for the second edition are in full swing. The WPL 2024 auction is underway in Mumbai, and five WPL teams are trying to do everything to get their preferred players at the auction. So far, a few big deals have already been done, and one name that made a few WPL franchises enter the bidding war was Vrinda Dinesh.

Notably, Vrinda is an uncapped Indian batter who got the limelight when the UP Warriorz won the bidding war for her for a whopping price of INR 1.3 crore. There were three WPL franchises who were interested in having her on their side, but it were the Warriorz who ended up signing the uncapped Indian star.

Who is Vrinda Dinesh?

Vrinda Dinesh is a 22-year-old uncapped Indian batter who hails from Karnataka. She has been performing well at the domestic level for the last couple of seasons. She is known for her attacking stroke play, which is why she was on the list of WPL franchises. She was also part of India women’s team for the U-23 ACC Emerging Teams Cup held in Hong Kong.

Though she didn’t get many chances, she had a pretty good performance in the warmup matches, which was rewarded, and she got her chance when S. Yashasri was ruled out due to injury. Vrinda was part of the final match and showed some glimpses with a good 36 runs off just 29 balls.

She has been a consistent player for Karnataka. Vrinda ended the Senior Women’s one-day competition as the third-highest run scorer and the top scorer for her team. She made 477 runs in just 11 innings and caught the attention of many. That is the reason that WPL franchises were keen to have her. Now, she will show her skills among some of the most prominent names in women’s cricket during the WPL 2024.
