Priyansh Arya became the first batter to hit six sixes in an over in the Delhi Premier League.
Delhi cricketer Priyansh Arya has caught the eyes of cricket fans in the ongoing inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024, where he is playing for South Delhi Superstarz. With his batting exploits, Arya has dazzled the fans and baffled the bowlers.
Who is Priyansh Arya?
Priyansh Arya was born on January 18, 2001. The young sensation made his T20 debut for the Delhi state team against Uttarakhand at Rohtak in November 2021. The left-handed batter made his List A debut against Bihar in Ahmedabad in November 2023.
In five List A matches, Arya has scored 69 runs at an average of 13.80. However, Priyansh’s T20 numbers are decent – 248 runs at an average of 27.55, including two-half centuries till now.
Priyansh was part of India A Under-19s team
In 2019, Priyansh played for the India A U-19 squad in a quadrangular series which included South Africa U-19, Afghanistan U-19, and India B U-19. He played with the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Singh, and Dhruv Jurel.
Arya made 57 runs in three matches, with a highest score of 44 against Afghanistan U-19.
The rise of Priyansh Arya in the Delhi Premier League
The 23-year-old Arya is having a dream run in the ongoing DPL 2024. Representing South Delhi Superstarz, the left-handed batter became the first player to smash a century in the DPL.
Priyansh achieved this feat during the match against Purani Dilli 6 when he hammered an unbeaten 55-ball 107, which included nine fours and seven sixes.
Six sixes an over by Priyansh Arya in DPL
The South Delhi Superstarz opener stunned everyone as he hammered six sixes in an over against the North Delhi Strikers. Priyansh achieved this epic feat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on August 30. The 23-year-old slammed six sixes in an over against North Delhi Strikers’ spinner Manan Bhardwaj. He even scored his second hundred of the tournament in this game.
