Who will replace Shreyanka Patil in India's 11 against South Africa in Women's T20 World Cup 2026?

Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 due to an ankle injury.
India Women have suffered a big blow as one of their star spinners, Shreyanka Patil, has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The right-arm spinner has been ruled out of the entire campaign due to an ankle injury.
Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. outplayed the Netherlands in their previous game on June 17 at Headingley, Leeds. In the clash, the off-spinner sustained a severe leg injury. While bowling the 6th over of the 2nd innings, she chased the ball towards mid-on and slipped. She landed awkwardly and twisted her ankle.
The young spinner was seen in severe pain and was unable to put any weight on her right leg and had to be stretchered off the field. Following a medical scan by the BCCI’s medical team, it was confirmed that she had sustained a ligament injury to her right ankle, ultimately ruling her out of the tournament.
Notably, the BCCI named uncapped 24-year-old leg-spinner Prema Rawat as Shreyanka’s replacement. Rawat was in England with the Indian Women A team and was immediately added to the senior team.
However, she is highly likely to warm the bench in the upcoming game against South Africa Women as she lacks international experience.
Radha Yadav expected to replace Shreyanka Patil in India’s 11
After Shreyanka’s ouster, India will need a good spinner to replace her in the playing XI in their upcoming clash. Radha Yadav could find a spot in the playing XI against Laura Wolvaardt & Co. The 26-year-old is a left-arm orthodox spinner and has experience of over 89 T20Is.
She has picked 103 wickets in his T20I career with an economy of 6.61 and an average of 19.1. Radha did not play in the first two matches of the T20 World Cup, but she was part of the T20I series against England held before the tournament.
Meanwhile, India and South Africa will clash in the 18th match of the tournament on Sunday, June 21 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. India Women are placed second in the Group A points table with four points and will play three more games in the league stage.
