Jamie Overton has sustained a thigh injury and returned to the UK.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a big blow in the middle of the Indian Premier League 2026 as their star pace all-rounder Jamie Overton has sustained a thigh injury. Overton has returned to the UK for further assessment of his injury and is set to miss the remainder of the tournament.
Overton gave an impressive performance and is the second-highest wicket-taker for the side. He clinched 14 wickets in 10 games at an economy of 8.89. He also grabbed a three-wicket haul in the previous clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
His economical spells helped CSK to restrict the opposition from reaching big totals. Overton also scored 136 runs in six innings, including an unbeaten 43-run knock in one game.
CSK named Dian Forrester as a replacement for Jamie Overton
Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. have named South Africa all-rounder Dian Forrester as the replacement for Overton in their squad. Forrester is not new to the CSK setup as he represents Joburg Super Kings in the SA20. He has been picked for INR 75 lakh.
Now, Forrester will make his IPL debut in 2026. Having made his international debut in March this year, the 25-year-old has so far played five T20Is for South Africa.
Meanwhile, CSK have three more games left in the league stage, which they need to win at any cost to book a berth in the playoffs. They currently take the fifth spot in the points table with six victories and five defeats in 11 matches.
They will next clash with LSG on May 15, followed by a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18 and Gujarat Titans on May 21.
