The Indian Women’s Cricket Team are in action against Netherlands Women at Headingley, Leeds in their second game of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on June 17. Both the teams are playing their second clash of this tournament. India were victorious in their first one against Pakistan by 64 runs, meanwhile Netherlands are still searching their first win.
Babette de Leede, Netherlands’ skipper, won the toss and opted to field first. She talked about some initial movement offered by the pitch and how they would be keen on utilising the same in the first innings.
Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur was okay with the challenge to bat first. She mentioned the areas the team would like to improve upon such as the bowling and batting in the powerplay.
Kaur said:
“I think the powerplay with both bat and ball is something we are really looking forward to improving. Hopefully today we will bat positively in the powerplay and, while bowling, if we can get a few wickets in the powerplay, that will be important.”
For the same reason, India have made adjustments in their team for tonight. They have brought in Nandini Sharma in place of Arundhati Reddy, and Yastika Bhatia replacing Bharati Fulmali.
Why did Arundhati Reddy miss IND-W vs NED-W clash of Women’s T20 World Cup 2026
Notably, in India’s previous clash, both the pacers – Reddy and Kranti Gaud, were wicketless. The pitch aided the spinners comparatively more, but there was initial movement on offer.
Arundhati Reddy had a poor outing in the match against Pakistan where she bowled two overs, giving 21 runs, and going wicketless. She had picked only two wickets in the three matches of the England T20I series, meanwhile in South Africa she claimed only one wicket in four matches.
Harmanpreet Kaur talked about picking early wickets in the powerplay, and for the same reason they have included Nandini Sharma in the mix.
Nandini Sharma had picked 17 wickets in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, being the joint highest wicket-taker. She had the economy of 8.3, with a strike rate of 13.
