The IPL 2026 final will take place in Ahmedabad on May 31, and Mohsin Naqvi has been invited for that.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will conclude on May 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Interestingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to attend the final.
The move is quite surprising due to the severe political tensions between India and Pakistan and their cricket boards. Notably, India and Pakistan do not play bilateral cricket and only engage in ICC and ACC tournaments. Moreover, they also refuse to send their players to each other’s countries, and their matches take place at neutral venues.
Last year, Naqvi was caught in a big controversy after Indian players refused to collect the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from him. Naqvi took the silverware from the stadium and has not handed it over to the BCCI till now.
Naqvi, who is also an interior minister in Pakistan Government, has been slammed for his anti-India remarks in the past.

Notably, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to conduct its quarterly meetings in India. The meetings were originally scheduled to take place in Doha in March-April but were postponed and relocated to India due to the West Indies conflict.
The meetings are set to take place in Ahmedabad on May 30-31. ICC officials, as well as representatives of various cricket boards, have been invited for the meeting. Hence, Naqvi has been invited as the representative of PCB.
Since the meeting will take place in Ahmedabad on May 30-31, all officials have also been invited by BCCI to attend the IPL 2026 final at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Meanwhile, Naqvi will have a discussion with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the matter. He will travel to India only if he receives government clearance.
